On the car bombing targeting worshippers in the city of Rankous.
Syrian Future Movement…
The cycle of crime carried out by the Assad regime continues, claiming lives en masse. The latest instance occurred yesterday in the city of Rankous, where a car bomb exploded among worshippers as they exited Khalid ibn al-Walid Mosque after Friday prayers. This act, condemned morally before being condemned religiously, is the twin of the recent bombing in Lebanon, where worshippers leaving two main mosques in the city of Tripoli were targeted. Sheikh Ahmad Gharib, who collaborated with the Syrian State Security, was arrested and confessed to his involvement.
Syrian Future Movement…
We previously warned in our statements that the Assad regime, a master in the art of car bombing, would choose gatherings of people to indulge its bloody hobby. In addition, it targets places that worry the regime due to their support for the revolution. The mountainous city of Rankous, bordering Lebanon, is a stronghold of the blessed revolution and serves as a passage for transferring the wounded into Lebanon with the help of our people in the Lebanese interior. For this reason, the regime felt the need to “discipline” them in the only way it knows—through killing. The recent bombing in Reyhanli, Turkey, where the regime chose a pro-revolution and densely populated area, is also a clear example.
Syrian Future Movement…
The extremism practiced by some armed groups today in northern Syria, “in the name of religion”—which we denounce—was last seen in the burning and vandalism of the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in the city of Raqqa. This is just one manifestation of the reactive extremism we warned the international community about, driven by the regime’s crimes across the nation. Our greatest fear is the emergence of groups harboring ideological, sectarian, and religious extremism as a response to the regime’s extremism, as we are already witnessing and experiencing.
Mercy to the martyrs of Rankous… and just retribution for the killer.
