Podcast of SFM (31): Political Participation from the SFM’s Perspective
- The real problem in Syria is the absence of genuine political participation, despite laws and legislations permitting it in form.
- We reject the idea of excluding any political component, regardless of its nature.
- We believe in the necessity of distinguishing between individual criminal acts and the political bases from which they emerged. The first issue is resolved by the judiciary by prosecuting the criminals themselves without compromising the security and stability of their ethnic, national, or religious communities. As for the political bases, they should not be prevented from political participation, and their fate should be decided by the parliament and the choice of the people.
- Political participation is a right for all Syrian citizens (except for those whose hands are stained with blood or who are proven to have harmed their people).
- Achieving the sovereignty of the people instead of the sovereignty of the tyrant depends on the proper practice of political life, which is the key to the solution in Syria.
