The Syrian Future Movement and the Citizen’s Right
Humanity went through a dark phase during the rule of imperial systems, where an individual’s worth was measured solely by their loyalty and submission. However, after the philosophical and political development of the social contract concept, humanity transitioned to a new phase based on the concept of citizenship, grounded in a set of rights and duties, supported by our cultural roots and religious teachings in our geographical location.
Therefore, the founders of the Syrian Future Movement believe that “a citizen has rights guaranteed by the state, including the right to a dignified life, honorable work, and freedom that does not infringe on the freedom of others.”
The Syrian Future Movement values the individual citizen and the sanctity of human life, considering it a significant sign among God’s signs, with the divine spirit breathed into them, and honored above all other creatures.
The Syrian Future Movement reinforces the value of the individual citizen, regardless of their religion or creed, ensuring equality in rights, duties, and freedoms under the nation’s umbrella. Distinctions are made based on constructive work and service to the nation, and differences are recognized in productivity and contribution.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that every Syrian citizen has rights and duties, without discrimination or preference based on gender, religion, ethnicity, regional affiliation, or tribal connections.
The Syrian Future Movement sees it as the state’s duty to secure and care for the individual citizen’s rights. Any negligence or failure in this regard is a proven harm to the state’s entity and fundamental structure.
The Syrian Future Movement asserts that the individual citizen’s right is safeguarded, without any favor or grace, and exploiting these rights in election campaigns or within partisan alignments is a described crime warranting accountability and legal action.
The Syrian Future Movement envisions a range of rights that must nurture the individual citizen’s life in their country, expecting the citizen to reciprocate by respecting its rights and fulfilling its duties, forming a true national partnership between the nation and the citizen. The state’s failure to protect its citizens’ rights is often more prevalent than the citizen’s failure to fulfill their duties towards it, and such negligence by the state is considered a betrayal, while the citizen’s neglect is seen as recklessness and mismanagement.
The Syrian Future Movement sees that the individual citizen has political rights, starting with the right to express opinions and counter-opinions, through the right to candidacy and nomination, to elections, and leading or creating political blocs, whether loyal or opposition.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the individual citizen has complete economic rights, starting from the right to work and free investment, to ownership and property rights, and so on.
The Syrian Future Movement acknowledges the individual citizen’s inherent right to education up to the highest university levels, a right where rich and poor, urban and rural residents are equal.
The Syrian Future Movement recognizes the individual citizen’s health rights, starting with the right to medical care, through the right to secure medication and treatment, to the right to own necessary health insurance.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the individual citizen has the right to choose their religion, change it, or even be non-religious, and it’s the state’s duty to protect them all without discrimination.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the individual citizen has the right to live a dignified life without restriction or diminishment of their role, as long as they operate within the framework of freely elected law and do not step outside the legislative authority.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the individual citizen has the right to establish an independent family and the right to create favorable conditions for its civilized care.
The Syrian Future Movement rejects any idea or project aimed at diminishing individual freedom or making it available to some and not others, whether through vague laws or unofficially.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on the media to play its role in protecting the fence of citizen rights from breaches and violations, creating space in the media to highlight their rights, warn of the danger of their violation, or jumping over or bypassing them, as well as caring for the individual citizen’s right to direct media content not directed at them for specific purposes and narrow interests.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the citizen has the right to live in their homeland freely, honorably, and dignifiedly, making them proud of it, so they do not sell their allegiance or replace it with another.
