News and Commentary: The United Nations and Measures to Combat Islamophobia

Last Friday, the official website of the United Nations published a decision titled: “Measures to Combat Islamophobia,” during a meeting on the occasion of the {International Day to Combat Islamophobia}.
A special envoy for the United Nations was appointed to combat Islamophobia.
The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, spoke about the severity of what he called the malicious epidemic “Islamophobia,” which represents, for its users, a denial of the value of Islam and the contributions and significance of Muslims.
He also warned of the dangers of escalating waves of hatred against Muslims in various forms, noting the risk of some exploiting hatred against Muslims for political gain here and there!
The Secretary-General pointed out that Islam is a pillar of faith and worship for nearly two billion Muslims, uniting them in every corner of the globe.
The Secretary-General highlighted the significant contributions made by Muslim scholars in culture, philosophy, and science, noting that Muslims come from all countries and cultures and enrich all aspects of life, saying: “They represent the wonderful diversity of the human family.”
In the spirit of Ramadan, the Secretary-General renewed the call for a ceasefire in both Gaza and Sudan, calling on all political and religious leaders, and community leaders to join his call, indicating that the time for peace has come.

1- The Syrian Future Movement congratulates humanity on this step, which is considered a fundamental building block for spreading a culture of tolerance and coexistence, and combating the culture of extremism and hatred.

2- The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the United Nations decision to adopt “Measures to Combat Islamophobia”.

3- The Syrian Future Movement believes that humanity must reach a stage where a culture of tolerance and peace is entrenched at all levels, through the adoption of international measures that prevent injustice, and activate human rights laws in a real and tangible way.

4- The Syrian Future Movement considers the United Nations organization a positive development within the stages of human thought and behavior evolution, and that its success and the establishment of its pillars are of supreme interest to all humanity.

5- The Syrian Future Movement believes in the role of the United Nations organization in resolving the Syrian issue in a way that ensures the dignity and freedom of the Syrian people and calls on it to take a clear stance towards a comprehensive and sustainable Syrian solution.
