From the memory of the Syrian revolution: 2011/07/28
On this day in 2011:
Yukiya Amano, the head of the United Nations nuclear agency, accused Iran, Syria, and North Korea of violating the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and failing to fully comply with its obligations. Amano stated in a speech before the United Nations’ 23rd Conference on Disarmament Issues, “The agency has concluded that the building destroyed in Deir ez-Zor in 2007 was a nuclear reactor, which the Syrian regime should have declared to the IAEA and provided assurances regarding the peaceful nature of its nuclear activities.”
