Issued on: 09/09/2023

“As the number of victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the Kingdom of Morocco continues to rise, which occurred on Friday, 09/09/2023, with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale, resulting in the deaths, injuries, and missing of hundreds in the regions and districts of Al Haouz, Marrakesh, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua, and Taroudannt, we are, in contrast, sadly reminded of the devastating earthquake that hit northern Syria on 06/02/2023 and the catastrophic effects it had then.
The Syrian Future Movement empathizes today with the father searching for his children, and the wife looking for her husband under the rubble southwest of Marrakesh, as the situation of the grieving Syrian mother and father in the city of Jindires in northern Syria back then.
The Syrian Future Movement neither forgets nor denies the grace of the Kingdom of Morocco towards its Syrian brethren who sought refuge there due to the war in Syria, nor the honorable official and popular Moroccan stance towards the Syrian revolution against the Assad regime to this day.
The Syrian Future Movement on its behalf and on behalf of all Syrians, extends its sincere condolences to His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and his trustworthy Crown Prince. We also express our condolences to all our kin in the fraternal Morocco for this immense and sorrowful tragedy.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on all national forces, especially the Syrian opposition, to return the favor to our kin in the Kingdom of Morocco, and to provide any possible assistance and consolation to address the repercussions and effects of the earthquake.
The Syrian Future Movement prays for the souls of the deceased, that they may be accepted among the martyrs, and for the healing of the injured, and to soothe the hearts of the bereaved.”
