Regarding the Decision to Deport Jumah Muhammad Lahib from Lebanon

Two years ago, Mr. “Jumah Muhammad Lahib,” a Syrian national and refugee in Beirut, Lebanon, and a key figure and activist within the Syrian Future Movement, officially registered in the United States since 11/13/2012, began working with us as a “Political Researcher” within the Research and Studies Department of the Scientific Office of the Syrian Future Movement. He was promoted on 01/01/2024 to become the Director of the Research and Studies Department within the Scientific Office of the Syrian Future Movement.

Mr. Jumah Muhammad Lahib has faced multiple harassments during the past period, to the extent that his life was threatened, especially after his appearances in television interviews, leading to assaults on his place of residence at night. However, more dangerous was the refusal of the Lebanese General Security to renew his and his family’s residence permits, handing him in person, during his call to review them, a deportation order from Lebanon to be executed a month from the date of 03/06/2024, despite him fulfilling all the legal conditions for the renewal of his stay through the Commission, and being registered with the UN Refugee Agency in Beirut since 2012, under file number: 245-17c05296. The life of Mr. Jumah Muhammad Lahib and his family, consisting of his wife and five children, is in grave danger, posing a real existential threat.

We, in the Syrian Future Movement, see that the decision to deport Mr. Jumah Muhammad Lahib from Lebanon is a deliberate restriction on him at the request of the Syrian regime and its intelligence services, as he is one of the active, influential, and prominent figures of the Syrian Future Movement.

We, in the Syrian Future Movement, demand that the Lebanese government and the UN Refugee Agency in Beirut review Mr. “Jumah Muhammad Lahib’s” file and work to prevent his deportation to Syria, considering he is wanted by the Syrian regime, was previously detained, and was one of the victims of torture and imprisonment in the Syrian regime’s prisons.

The Syrian Future Movement calls on human rights and humanitarian organizations and institutions, as well as all concerned and influential figures in Lebanon and abroad (supporters and advocates of the Syrian cause), to take responsibility to stop the deportation of Mr. Jumah Muhammad Lahib and his family from Lebanon.

The Syrian Future Movement holds the UN Refugee Agency in Beirut and the Lebanese government fully legally and morally responsible for the safety and security of Mr. Jumah Muhammad Lahib and his family, as well as the safety of all Syrian refugees on Lebanese territory.
