November 8th marks the “International Day of Radiology”—a global scientific and health-related occasion that celebrates the discoveries and technologies that have revolutionized modern medicine, as well as their pivotal role in the early diagnosis of diseases and the provision of safe, effective healthcare. At the Syrian Future Movement, we observe this day with a sense of national and humanitarian responsibility, aiming to shed light on the state of the specialized health and academic sectors in our country, while presenting our progressive, civil vision for advancing the medical and technical infrastructure during the current transitional phase.

The Syrian Future Movement notes that more than 60% of advanced diagnostic imaging equipment—such as MRI and CT scanners—in public hospitals has been rendered inoperable due to bombardment, destruction, and a lack of maintenance. This poses a direct threat to the lives of thousands of Syrian patients who are left without access to accurate and timely diagnoses.

The Syrian Future Movement highlights that the exodus and depletion of medical, technical, and academic talent—with over 70% of radiologists, imaging technicians, and medical physicists having left the country due to the war—has created a massive knowledge and operational gap within Syrian health centers and universities.

Furthermore, the Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the absence of a stable electrical grid and frequent power outages across various regions of Syria disrupt the operation of sensitive medical equipment and accelerate its deterioration. This has driven the estimated cost for the rehabilitation and modernization of this vital sector to over 12 billion dollars.

Guided by its national vision and its aspiration to build a state based on strong institutions and equitable development, the Syrian Future Movement proposes the following recommendations for the transitional period:

The Syrian Future Movement believes that building a healthcare system upon advanced technological and scientific foundations is the essential pillar for protecting the lives of the Syrian people and upholding their dignity.

International Day of Radiology highlights the importance of modern medical discoveries and their role in healthcare.

[4688
4856
post-68383","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-presidency-office-en","tag-congratulations-and-events
