The Syrian Future Movement affirms that United Nations Day, celebrated internationally on October 24, marks the historic anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945. This Charter serves as the supreme legal and ethical document that established the system of collective security, prohibited the use of force in international relations, and enshrined the protection of fundamental human rights.

The Syrian Future Movement notes that the international community’s focus in 2026 on the theme of “rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity” reflects an urgent need to return to the core principles of the Charter and to activate mechanisms for preventive diplomacy and transitional justice in order to resolve protracted conflicts.

The Syrian Future Movement points out that the concurrent observance of World Development Information Day underscores the intrinsic and enduring link between comprehensive political stability and the achievement of equitable economic and social development; genuine and lasting peace cannot be built in environments plagued by the deliberate withholding of information, exclusion, and developmental marginalization.

Drawing upon reports and political and humanitarian briefings issued by the UN Security Council and the UN Secretariat in 2026, the Syrian Future Movement highlights the persistent political stalemate regarding the Syrian file and the continued breakdown of negotiation processes. This comes at a time when more than 90% of the Syrian population is living below the poverty line, amidst a crisis of internal displacement and external refuge that stands as the largest of its kind in contemporary history. The Syrian Future Movement expresses its deep regret that United Nations platforms have, at times, turned into arenas for international polarization and the exercise of the veto. This has weakened the organization’s executive capacity to enforce its own resolutions concerning Syria—foremost among them, UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

The Syrian Future Movement declares its full and absolute principled commitment to standing firmly with the legitimate choices and rights of the Syrian people. It adopts an independent political and civil vision that remains equidistant from narrow, traditional alignments, viewing the faithful and complete implementation of relevant UN resolutions as the essential and sole path toward building a new, independent Syria.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that laying the foundations for a civil, modern Syrian republic begins with respect for international principles regarding the rule of law, genuine citizenship rights, and the equitable distribution of wealth and development—free from security-based monopolies or institutional corruption.

The Syrian Future Movement maintains that achieving a democratic transition and safeguarding national sovereignty can only be realized by ending dependence on external actors and activating a unified Syrian national will—one rooted in the principles of equal rights and responsibilities for all citizens, without discrimination.

The Syrian Future Movement calls upon the United Nations and the Security Council—looking toward 2026—to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by establishing strict, binding executive mechanisms to enforce international resolutions on Syria, rejecting incursions by the Zionist entity, and activating processes for accountability and justice for the victims of violations. The Syrian Future Movement urges UN agencies and donor nations to decouple humanitarian and development aid from political agendas, and to direct support instead toward early recovery projects and vital infrastructure—such as water, education, and healthcare—across all Syrian provinces.

The Syrian Future Movement calls upon all national forces, civil society organizations, and Syrian academic elites to unite their intellectual and political efforts in developing comprehensive strategies for governance and development, in preparation for the future phase of civil and societal reconstruction for a free, independent, and self-sufficient Syria.
