The Syrian Future Movement affirms that International Snow Leopard Day—observed globally on October 23rd—serves as a significant environmental and rights-based milestone. Established in 2013 through the “Bishkek Declaration,” this observance aims to draw attention to the importance of protecting endangered species and preserving fragile mountain ecosystems, which form the backbone of wildlife and aquatic habitats.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that global concern for biological balance and the conservation of natural resources is a cornerstone of modern civil and cultural values. Such efforts seek to ensure the sustainability of life for future generations and to protect the planet from the adverse impacts of climate change—a global endeavor in which the Syrian Future Movement aspires for Syria to play an active role.

Furthermore, the Syrian Future Movement asserts that the human right to a safe, clean, and balanced environment is an integral component of the fundamental rights framework upon which a new social contract—essential for building democratic and independent states—must be founded.

Drawing on development, environmental, and field reports from 2026, the Syrian Future Movement highlights that Syria’s natural and agricultural environments have suffered catastrophic structural destruction, as well as severe chemical and water pollution, resulting from years of war, conflict, and the absence of institutional oversight. The Syrian Future Movement strongly criticizes the policies of the transitional authority in Damascus, which continues to squander limited resources on performative events designed to project a false image of stability. This occurs at a time when the authority is completely failing to provide basic services—such as electricity, potable water, and food safety—or to address the pollution affecting agricultural lands, which have already been exhausted by extractive fiscal policies and a security-driven bureaucracy.

The Syrian Future Movement declares its full and unequivocal alignment with the aspirations of the Syrian people for a dignified and secure life. It advocates for an independent political and civic vision, asserting that the construction of a new Syria cannot be achieved through fragmented propaganda; rather, it requires a comprehensive developmental vision and genuine governance that restores the status of the citizen, along with their environmental and economic rights.

The Syrian Future Movement maintains that the transition toward a modern, civil society necessitates an end to the exploitation of national sectors for political battles and the politicization of public achievements. It calls for immediate investment in infrastructure, the restoration of damaged vegetation and water resources, and support for environmental and agricultural entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, the Syrian Future Movement believes that true national sovereignty begins with the preservation of the country’s resources, the achievement of self-sufficiency for its citizens, and the protection of individuals from marginalization and exclusion.

The Syrian Future Movement demands that the current authority in Damascus cease these performative displays and urgently redirect public expenditure toward supporting vital service and healthcare sectors, as well as rehabilitating water and sewage networks that currently pose a threat to public safety. The Syrian Future Movement calls upon civil society organizations and active Syrian stakeholders to launch joint environmental and human rights awareness campaigns that link the preservation of nature with the development of smart agricultural systems, as a means to combat hunger and poverty.

The Syrian Future Movement urges the international community and donor partners for 2026 to provide direct support for early environmental and developmental recovery programs within Syria, and to ensure that international projects are aligned with the actual needs of affected families.

Furthermore, the Syrian Future Movement appeals to all national elites and qualified professionals to prioritize environmental and water security, as well as sustainable economic recovery, within the framework of collective national action—thereby laying the foundation for a civilized, inclusive, and independent Syrian future.
