The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest and appreciation the launch of the International Exhibition and Conference on Agriculture, Food, and Industry, which will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2026, at the new Damascus Fairgrounds. The event will feature over 200 exhibitors representing 14 countries, and will be attended by the Ministers of Economy, Industry, and Agriculture, as well as representatives from international organizations and economic and trade entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We see this as a powerful message that the new Syria is open to the world and determined to reclaim its role as a regional hub for trade and investment, a practical embodiment of its vision based on a productive and competitive economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement commends this initiative, which establishes a vital platform for economic cooperation and provides a valuable opportunity for businesspeople and investors from Syria and around the world to exchange expertise, explore investment opportunities, and forge partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We support the statement made by Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar that “the Syrian economy must be productive, competitive, and open to the world, in partnership with the private sector,” and his indication that the Ministry is working to “create an attractive investment environment by removing obstacles, simplifying procedures, and developing legislation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We also see this approach as embodying the vision of “New Syria,” which is based on economic openness, attracting investments, and building genuine international partnerships that contribute to driving development and reconstruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement notes that the exhibition aims to enhance cooperation and investment in the agricultural, food, and industrial sectors, and to facilitate the exchange of expertise between local and international entities, thereby contributing to supporting production, developing value chains, and strengthening food security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We also appreciate the statement made by Minister of Agriculture Basil al-Suwaidan that “agriculture constitutes the primary engine of industry and the economy,” and that “the new investment law prioritizes the agricultural sector and provides incentives to support investment in it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We also support the participation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), which emphasized the importance of investing in sustainable agricultural and food systems to improve food security and child nutrition, and to rebuild the food system in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We see this international participation as a recognition of the importance of the Syrian agricultural sector and a willingness to support its development efforts, contributing to achieving self-sufficiency, boosting exports, and creating job opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
