Every year on June 20th, the world commemorates World Refugee Day, an official occasion established by the United Nations General Assembly to honor the courage and resilience of the millions forced to flee their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year, 2026, this day coincides with a new dawn for our homeland. Following the fall of the Assad regime, Syria has entered a promising historical transitional phase, and with it, the national philosophy surrounding the refugee issue has shifted from “the suffering of displacement and the struggle for survival” to “the responsibility of return and building the state of the future.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the collapse of the tyrannical regime has removed the greatest obstacle and the primary cause of the Syrian refugee crisis, paving the way, legally and politically, for the largest voluntary, safe, and dignified return of our people in modern history. From now on, the concept of refuge will be linked to “recovery and return,” not to displacement and loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the statistical reports and regional surveys issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in mid-2026, which indicate that despite the return of more than 1.6 million Syrian refugees to their homes, the sustainability of this return and the readiness of the millions remaining in the diaspora to join them and contribute to stability are closely linked to accelerating the reform process, securing an attractive legislative environment for investment, and building transitional institutions that guarantee rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement believes that Syrians are returning to their homeland today not as an economic burden, but as a “human resource and a fundamental engine for development.” They are returning with the highest levels of scientific, professional, and technical expertise acquired in leading international institutions, making them the driving force that will lead early recovery plans and the reconstruction of what years of war have destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the fact that a large percentage of expatriates and returnees hold other nationalities in addition to their original Syrian citizenship has become an unprecedented geopolitical and economic asset. This “multi-national” segment forms technological, cultural, and diplomatic bridges connecting a free Syria with key decision-making centers and global financial markets, transforming our country into an open and welcoming environment for cross-border investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the success of the current transitional phase hinges on our ability to channel the funds and savings of returnees from the realm of consumer aid into the injection of real capital for establishing factories, reclaiming land, and developing infrastructure. This requires eliminating bureaucracy and enacting modern investment laws that protect private property and guarantee transparency and fair competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
