The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest the recent activities and campaigns within some Syrian universities, and the resulting discussions and varied reactions among students and in the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While valuing everyone’s right to express their opinions and convictions, the Movement believes it is essential to place this phenomenon in its proper context, stemming from the responsibility of Syrians to protect the mission of Syrian universities as platforms for knowledge and enlightenment, and to preserve the diverse fabric of Syrian society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement recalls the principles upon which its vision for the state and society is based, namely, the establishment of a modern, civil state that does not deny or exclude the guidance of religions, and that does not disregard the values \u200b\u200bof the Syrian citizen in building the state and the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that its project is based on the principles of equal citizenship and respect for diversity. It views Syrian society as a model rich in religious, sectarian, intellectual, and cultural diversity, and believes that preserving and respecting this diversity is a fundamental pillar of national stability and civil peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is also worth recalling that a just state is one that treats all its citizens equally, protecting their freedoms, dignity, and equal participation in public life, without discrimination or exclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that Syrian universities are national academic institutions, and their primary mission is to prepare scientific expertise and build individuals capable of contributing to Syria’s renaissance and future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement draws attention to the fact that universities are not arenas for ideological or sectarian conflicts, but rather beacons of knowledge, creativity, and free thought. We believe that introducing any religious, sectarian, or political polarization onto university campuses would transform the academic institution into a battleground, weakening its enlightening role and hindering its scientific mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We also stress the necessity for Syrian universities to remain free from any practices that might lead to the segregation or classification of students on non-academic grounds, in order to preserve the cohesion of the student body and the continuity of higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that freedom of belief, expression, and religious practice are guaranteed rights for all citizens, and that every citizen has the right to practice their personal and religious convictions within the legal framework and with respect for the rights of others, without restriction or discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement indicates that it adopts a vision based on respect for personal freedoms, including freedom of dress and expression of religious identity, provided that these freedoms do not conflict with the laws governing the educational process and are not used as a tool for pressure or coercion against others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We also reiterate that the doctrinal and intellectual differences that have characterized the nation’s history should not become causes of societal division or tension within educational institutions, especially at this sensitive stage when Syria needs to consolidate a culture of dialogue, coexistence, and mutual respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
