The Syrian Future Movement commends the Ministry of Religious Endowments’ donation campaign and appreciates the rapid response aimed at alleviating the suffering of those affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement highly values \u200b\u200bthis solidarity campaign, which will launch after Friday prayers on June 5, 2026, and calls upon the Syrian people to actively participate in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While commending this initiative, the Syrian Future Movement recalls its previous solidarity initiatives, such as its call to allocate a portion of donations to those affected by the February 2024 earthquake. This underscores that the spirit of social solidarity is a fundamental pillar for building a new Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement draws attention to the critical situation resulting from the rising water levels of the Euphrates River. The governor of Deir ez-Zor, Ziad al-Ayesh, announced that the floods threaten at least 2,500 families with the risk of inundation, isolation, or forced displacement. The governor also revealed additional catastrophic consequences, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n To underscore the scale of the disaster, 11 people died on May 28, 2026, and another 27,000 were displaced due to the floods, while the injured continue to receive treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Syrian Future Movement notes the visit of President Ahmed al-Sharaa and his accompanying ministerial delegation to Deir ez-Zor Governorate on May 29, 2026, to assess the extent of the damage and needs firsthand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Movement views this visit as confirmation of the priority given to addressing the repercussions of the disaster and the government’s commitment to following up on it at the highest levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It also draws attention to the Ministry of Religious Endowments’ directives to imams and preachers to dedicate a portion of their prayers to supplicating for the people of the two affected governorates, emphasizing the humanitarian and spiritual dimensions of confronting this ordeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Syrian Future Movement commends the Ministry’s circular stressing the necessity of recording all donations in approved registers and delivering them to the governorate directorates of religious endowments within a period not exceeding three days, so that they can be distributed to those affected through the Ministry’s Financial Affairs Directorate according to established procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Movement considers these measures an important step towards ensuring that donations reach their intended recipients and calls for the continued development of oversight and monitoring mechanisms to guarantee complete transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While the Syrian Future Movement appreciates this rapid humanitarian response, it reminds us that natural disasters will recur, and that prevention and proactive planning are far better than knee-jerk reactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Based on its national responsibility, the Syrian Future Movement recommends the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Adopting a preventative approach at the Euphrates River Basin level, in cooperation with local authorities and international expertise, through conducting scientific studies to develop a dam management system and monitor water levels, and establishing early warning systems to reduce future human and material losses.
