The Syrian Future Movement affirms that climate change and global warming are a direct security and livelihood challenge that directly affects the daily lives of Syrian citizens and threatens the country’s water and food security in an unprecedented manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the humanitarian and national values \u200b\u200bthat this day calls for, foremost among them “environmental justice,” the right of Syrians to live in a safe and sustainable environment, and the protection of the most vulnerable groups\u2014such as displaced persons in camps and workers in exposed sectors\u2014from deadly heat waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement bases its assessment on recent reports issued by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the World Meteorological Organization for 2025\/2026, which classify the Mediterranean and Middle East region as a “hotspot” where drought and heat waves are increasing at a rate 20% faster than the global average, necessitating immediate response strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement expresses its deep concern regarding field reports from within Syria, which document the alarming decline in the levels of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers prior to this year’s events, the desertification of fertile agricultural lands in the Syrian Jazeera region, and the recurring forest fires on the Syrian coast.
