On this historic day, we stand in reverence and admiration for the women of Syria and the world, on the occasion of the International Day of Women for Peace and Disarmament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This day, established in 1982 by anti-militarist women in Europe to confront the threat of weapons and the destructive arms race, has become a cry of national and humanitarian conscience calling for an end to armed conflicts and the building of a brighter future based on justice and peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the essence of this day rests on fundamental values, including the consolidation of sustainable peace, the disarmament of illegal weapons, and the promotion of comprehensive diplomatic and political solutions over the language of weapons and violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement also affirms that Syrian women have been, and continue to be, the greatest victims of the military machine and the proliferation of uncontrolled weapons. Reports from the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) indicate that at least 29,064 women have been killed in Syria since March 2011, while more than 11,268 women remain detained or forcibly disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement expresses its deep concern regarding the findings of the Women, Peace and Security Index (WPS Index), which ranks Syria among the lowest countries globally in terms of women’s safety and security. This is a direct result of the ongoing instability and the repercussions of the proliferation of uncontrolled weapons and military remnants that threaten the lives of families daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the disarmament of all armed groups and the consolidation of the right to bear arms solely in the hands of legitimate state institutions is an essential cornerstone for protecting women and girls from gender-based violence and for providing a safe national environment that empowers them to lead their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the necessity of activating the role of Syrian women as full partners and leaders in decision-making processes, peacebuilding, and political negotiations. This is underscored by United Nations statistics for 2025\/2026, which demonstrate that women’s participation in political bodies is nearly half that of women in conflict zones compared to stable areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement calls upon the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate and decisive action to ensure genuine protection for Syrian women, support efforts to disarm militias, and work towards the immediate resolution of the cases of women detained and forcibly disappeared, as well as providing justice for the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With an ambitious national vision, the Syrian Future Movement looks forward to a future where the sun rises on a new Syria\u2014a Syria free from uncontrolled weapons and intimidation, and built on the principles of equal citizenship and transitional justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We believe that the awareness, freedom, and strength of Syrian women are the true guarantee for drafting a national constitution that protects the rights of all, and for building a stable and prosperous society that prioritizes construction and development over the destruction of war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
