The Syrian Future Movement follows with great interest and appreciation the measures announced by the General Assembly of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), held in Paris. On Friday, May 8, 2026, coinciding with the IFJ’s centenary, the Assembly unanimously adopted an urgent resolution concerning the situation of journalists in Syria, with only one dissenting vote. This resolution comes at a time of rapid political and media transformations in Syria, aiming to support and empower media freedom and the independence of union work, recognize union pluralism, build a modern union model characterized by transparency and democracy, hold accountable those responsible for serious violations against Syrian journalists since 2011, and task the IFJ Executive Committee with monitoring the situation and preparing periodic reports in cooperation with the Syrian Journalists Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement values \u200b\u200bthis decision as the culmination of continuous efforts and an embodiment of the international community’s solidarity with Syrian journalists. It calls for the full implementation of its provisions.
