The Syrian Future Movement followed with great interest the report issued on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, by the UN Group of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict, which commended what it described as the “remarkable progress” made by Syria in the transitional justice process in just one year since the fall of the former regime in December 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While we appreciate this UN recognition of the national efforts exerted, we in the Syrian Future Movement see this report as more than just a preliminary assessment; it is a cautionary document par excellence, revealing the fragility of this path and confirming that what has been achieved so far is not the end of the road, but merely a beginning that requires concerted national and international efforts to sustain it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without adequate forensic capabilities, evidence cannot be properly collected or preserved. Without trained investigators and prosecutors, cases cannot move forward.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The danger is not only stagnation but also regression. If resources are not available, evidence may be lost, survivors may become alienated, and early trust in emerging institutions may erode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n
