The Syrian Future Movement notes with grave concern the reports issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and human rights organizations involved in the humanitarian response in Syria for 2026, which reveal an unprecedented surge in cases of “conversion” and functional neurological disorders. Psychological repression and violent trauma translate into acute physical symptoms such as sudden loss of movement, non-epileptic seizures, and speech disorders, cases which are showing a marked increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement alerts the international community and key players in the “transitional phase” to the enormous gap in the medical response. Field statistics indicate that more than 80% of primary healthcare centers in affected areas completely lack specialists in neuropsychiatry, with some areas having only one psychiatrist for every 250,000 citizens. This leaves thousands of people with neuropsychiatric disorders (NND) without accurate diagnoses or physical and psychological rehabilitation programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that rebuilding the Syrian people must precede rebuilding infrastructure.
