The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the submission of the final report of the National Commission of Inquiry into the Suwaida events to the Minister of Justice on March 18, 2026. The 850-page report documents the events that took place between July 11 and 20, 2025, in the Suwaida Governorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement commends the professional documentation efforts undertaken by the Commission, which recorded 1,760 deaths, 2,188 injuries, and approximately 90 missing persons, along with the release of 144 abductees, the burning of 36 villages, and the displacement of more than 62,000 people (27,404 Bedouin and 34,845 Druze and Christians). This comprehensive documentation is considered a fundamental step towards achieving transparent and inclusive transitional justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that the report acknowledges the shared responsibility of multiple parties\u2014including elements from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, local Druze and Bedouin armed groups, tribal civilians, and extremist elements\u2014and links the tensions to historical roots deepened by the former regime. This aligns with our unwavering stance against any separatist or autonomy projects, as we emphasized in our statement issued on January 14, 2026, entitled “Rejecting Calls for Secession from Hikmat al-Hijri in Suwaida,” in which we condemned calls for independence and deemed them a threat to the unity of Syrian territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement calls on the transitional government to immediately and seriously implement the report’s recommendations, including referring those involved to an independent judiciary, collecting unlicensed weapons, supporting community reconciliation efforts, compensating and rehabilitating displaced persons, and protecting burial sites and cemeteries. This call is based on our previous position regarding the “Tripartite Agreement on Suwaida,” issued on September 16, 2025, in which the Syrian Future Movement commended the agreement between Syria, Jordan, and the United States as a step towards stability, compensation, and reconstruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its condemnation of all violations by all parties, based on its statement issued on January 16, 2026, entitled “Human Rights Watch Report on Suwaida Violations,” in which it condemned the grave violations (such as unlawful killings, kidnappings, looting, arson, and mutilation of corpses) documented by the organization on January 15, 2026, while emphasizing the necessity of comprehensive accountability without exception or selectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement supports calls for national reconciliation, as expressed in its statement dated January 20, 2026, entitled “The Governor of Suwaida’s Call for National Reconciliation.” In this statement, the movement endorsed the call made by Dr. Mustafa al-Bakour, the Governor of Suwaida, on January 19, 2026, to extend a hand of reconciliation and harmony, considering it a strategic step towards restoring full sovereignty, security, and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Syrian Future Movement views this report as a genuine historical opportunity to repair the national fabric and close the chapter on the past with dignity and through justice.
