The Syrian Future Movement believes that Russia’s use of its veto power against the resolution extending the mechanism for delivering humanitarian aid to Syria through the Bab al-Hawa crossing is a humanitarian crime, adding to its series of crimes against the Syrian people. It also exploits humanitarian corridors and aid as means of war for slow, deliberate killing, in parallel with its ongoing cold-blooded and cheap killing.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that there is no benefit to be gained from UN Security Council sessions in their current form, especially since the Russian veto makes the issue of sending humanitarian aid vulnerable to blackmail every time it is subjected to the established voting mechanisms.
The Syrian Future Movement notes that the entry of aid across the Syrian-Turkish border is a humanitarian matter that transcends all other considerations. Tampering with, obstructing, or postponing it exposes thousands of Syrians to the collapse of the food security system under current circumstances.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that restricting the people and fighting them for their livelihoods will only lead to new waves of migration, increased violence, and other dire consequences.
The Syrian Future Movement calls for any draft resolution or resolution concerning Syria and the Syrians to be referred to the General Assembly for consideration, to prevent it from being subject to Russian-Syrian manipulation. It also calls for the application of the provisions of Chapter VI and the third paragraph of Article 52, which prohibit those who have been parties to any war from voting on it.
