This announcement occurred during the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani to Washington, D.C., in the presence of US Special Envoy Tom Barrack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We in the Syrian Future Movement welcome this step, which we see as the beginning of a new phase of political and economic openness after years of isolation and sanctions that have burdened the Syrian people. We believe this announcement reflects a shift in the US approach to Syria, based on linking economic support with security commitments, foremost among which is combating the financing of terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the success of these understandings requires a clear Syrian commitment to implementing political and institutional reforms that ensure representation of all components of Syrian society and strengthen the building of a pluralistic civil state based on justice and citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Syrian Future Movement appreciates Minister Al-Sheibani&#8217;s meetings with US officials and members of Congress, which addressed the permanent lifting of sanctions, support for a potential security agreement with Israel, and joining the international coalition against ISIS. We view these meetings as an opportunity to expand the scope of understandings, serving the interests of the Syrian people and strengthening the independence of national decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Syrian Future Movement affirms its full readiness to contribute to shaping Syria&#8217;s new future, based on openness, reform, and regional integration. It emphasizes the need for any economic or political steps to be consistent with Syrians&#8217; aspirations for freedom, dignity, and
