Syrian Future Movement Welcomes the announcement by the Ministry of Interior of the arrest on Saturday, June 21, 2025, of Wasim al-Assad, the most prominent person involved in drug smuggling crimes and violating the rights of Syrians during the dictatorship, as we see this step as the culmination of the repeated demands of Syrians to hold criminal figures accountable and prevent them from escaping punishment, and a first step towards restoring the long-awaited justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Syrian Future Movement The Syrian Minister of Justice, Mr. Mazhar al-Wais, appreciates his statement that he will continue to hold accountable all those involved in the crimes and violations that have affected Syrians for fourteen years, as an official commitment that we hope will be translated into clear measures that do not exclude anyone, no matter how high his position or how old his crime is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Syrian Future Movement He emphasizes that the success of this security operation will not be complete unless a comprehensive red list is announced that includes the names of all wanted individuals who committed crimes against civilians, especially those involved in drug networks, warlords, militia leaders, and all those who contributed to undermining the Syrian civil peace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Syrian Future Movement He calls for this moment to be a pivotal moment in the process of transitional justice, in which the files of violations are opened wide open and the judiciary is allowed to have its say in an independent and transparent manner, away from any political settlements or interim bargains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Syrian Future Movement It reiterates its firm position that there can be no stability in Syria without comprehensive accountability and fair justice, and that justice is not revenge, but rather a foundation for a national future in which Syrians can share on the basis of truth, accountability, and reconciliation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
