He studied in Damascus and graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in its first class in 1981.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He was arrested in 1983 on charges of belonging to the Communist Party and was sentenced to prison at the age of 25.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He was released at the end of 1991 following a general amnesty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>His imprisonment lasted nine years, during which he was transferred between multiple detention centers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After his release, he participated in dozens of Syrian and Arab TV series, including &#8220;The Palestinian Exodus&#8221; in 2004, &#8220;Al-Zaher Baybars&#8221; in 2005, &#8220;The Outlaws&#8221; in 2005, &#8220;Asmahan&#8221; in 2008, and &#8220;Qamar Bani Hashem&#8221; in 2008.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He declared his opposition to the Syrian regime and his support for the Syrian revolution in 2011.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Syrian regime sought to suppress him through the Artists&#8217; Syndicate and later by publishing fabricated defamatory images in Al-Jaras magazine in 2013.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He engaged in opposition political activities and called for democracy in Syria.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He withdrew from political work when he left the &#8220;Democratic Platform,&#8221; supported by Michel Kilo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He then decided to intensify his relief and humanitarian efforts, visiting camps and field hospitals with his friend Mazen Al-Natour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He participated in several demonstrations outside Syria against the regime and contributed to issuing several political statements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He supported the revolution with media and artistic efforts, the most notable of which were the series &#8220;Smile, O General&#8221; in 2023 and his famous song &#8220;If You Could Return.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At the Syrian Future Movement, in recognition of his national, political, artistic, and relief contributions, his support for his people in their revolution against oppression and tyranny, and as an acknowledgment of his great efforts for Syria and its people, we present this week\u2019s Syrian Future Movement Shield to the Syrian artist &#8220;Abdul Hakim Qutifan,&#8221; a symbolic Syrian shield reflecting our comprehensive national vision and approach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abdul Hakim Qatifan, the Syrian artist who suffered arrest and then returned to resume his artistic career after nine years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":35,"featured_media":25519,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[135],"tags":[4749],"class_list":["post-25516","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-media-office-en","tag-sfm-shield"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.9 (Yoast SEO v26.9) -
