About the Umayyad Mosque Tragedy
The Syrian Future Movement Extends Deepest Condolences to the Families of the Victims of the Umayyad Mosque Stampede on Friday, January 10, 2025, following an announcement by a Syrian “TikTok Chef” about a food feast in its courtyard.
The Syrian Future Movement condemns this irresponsible act by the feast organizer, known as “Abu Omar Al-Dimashqi,” owner of “Al-Bayt Al-Dimashqi” restaurant and popular on the TikTok platform.
The Syrian Future Movement considers this tragedy a clear indication of the Syrian people’s suffering under the policies of the defunct regime, which impoverished the population to the extent that they trampled over each other for food.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on the new administration and all political and economic forces to swiftly revitalize investment, improve Syria’s economic standing, and rescue the Syrian people from the poverty and destitution caused by the former regime.
The Syrian Future Movement urges all Syrian political forces to declare this day a national day to launch the “Syrian Revolution Against Poverty.”
The Syrian Future Movement stresses the need to hold accountable all those proven to be involved in this tragedy, whether it be officials responsible for security oversight, those who issued the necessary permits, the organizers and promoters, or anyone proven guilty through a transparent and independent investigation.
The Syrian Future Movement thanks the Civil Defense for their prompt intervention, which helped mitigate the consequences of this painful tragedy.
