On the Resignation of Sheikh Moaz Al-Khatib

Syrian Future Movement

The peak of political purity (if intentions are sincere and purposes are righteous) is represented by Sheikh Moaz Al-Khatib’s resignation from the presidency of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces after he lost the mechanisms for serving the homeland and the people within his offices, reaching the limits of the “red lines” he referred to in his resignation statement. We hope he will clarify those lines precisely to the public so that the Syrian people, both inside and outside the country, can understand the magnitude of the conspiracy we have been living through since the start of our blessed revolution.

At the Syrian Future Movement, we have disagreed (but not conflicted) with Sheikh Moaz Al-Khatib on many proposals and approaches he adopted—including his call for dialogue with the murderous butcher. However, our ideological differences regarding the political direction have not diminished our respect and appreciation for his person, knowledge, and work.

As we, as political Muslims, grow through honorable stances like those announced by Sheikh Moaz Al-Khatib in his resignation, we call for collaboration and extend our hands to him and to all honorable, sincere, and protective individuals of our people’s and nation’s interests so that we may unite as one hand toward a common goal, seeking to heal wounds, alleviate suffering, and expedite the realization of clear victory.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the number of sincere and hardworking individuals is greater than any negligent national council, any frozen national coalition, or any party or movement under international magnetism—even if the available resources are limited. May God grant everyone success on the path of sincerity in intention and action.
