On this day in 2011, thousands in the city of Deir ez-Zor buried Amer Zamzam, who was killed by military security forces. The mourners chanted for the martyrs and freedom, demanding the fall of the Syrian regime. The city witnessed evening demonstrations in several neighborhoods, converging in Al-Madlaji Square in the city center. Demonstrations also took place in Mayadin and Al-Bukamal in the province’s countryside. A number of tribal leaders from the province gathered in Al-Quriyah, affirming their unified stance to continue the peaceful revolution against the regime and their rejection of any foreign intervention.
