Statement of Position As the peaceful popular movement of our people in Sweida continues

Following the ominous statement by the Sweida Provincial Council dated 2023/09/11, the bitter experience of 2011 reemerges once more! Caught between our people’s revolution on one side, and the malicious Assad regime on the other! Peaceful demonstrations, best described as a civilizational icon of an ancient people. The Assad regime fails to deal with the purity of its demand and its advocates. Then, the evil Iranian influence manifests, as the Assad regime directs live gunfire at the unarmed protesters, just as Iran does to suppress any popular movement within its borders. This leads to escalating clashes between the protesters and the regime’s thugs, followed by the regime’s withdrawal from some of its weapon depots (facilitating the rebels to seize them for future use).
This transitioned the peaceful protesters, who are demanding better conditions and reforms, into a realm of militarization and self-defense. We all know the rest of the story!

The Assad regime has not and will not learn from this experience we’ve undergone (but we’ve learned the lesson and understood the purpose).
The head of the regime, Bashar al-Assad, explicitly stated in his latest interview on Sky News Arabia that if he could turn back time, he would reset the scene using the same tools and methods.

We, at the Syrian Future Movement, while condemning Iran’s interventions in all of Syria, stand with our people and our free kin in Sweida against Iranian interventions and its militias.

The Syrian Future Movement sees the necessity to support all Syrians in continuing the peaceful movement in Sweida, emphasizing supporting the stance of the “Sheikhs of Wisdom represented by Sheikh Hikmat Al-Hajari” to avoid the confrontation prepared by Assad and his allies.

The Syrian Future Movement supports the rights of our Syrian people in Sweida to confront Iranian interventions by all peaceful means available. It also calls on the Sheikhs of Wisdom to unite in these circumstances and issue a clear statement on the continuation of the peaceful movement in Sweida until the fall of the Assad regime.

The Syrian Future Movement supports all the options seen by the movement’s leaders in Sweida (whom we trust in their wisdom) and suggests preserving the movement’s peace and avoiding militarization.

The Syrian Future Movement leverages all its resources and international relations to support the movement’s leadership in the south in general, and in Sweida in particular, in preserving the movement’s peace and conveying their messages to relevant entities worldwide.

Bashar al-Assad’s regime fully realizes that the movement of our people in Sweida has invigorated the Syrian national spirit, which the Assad regime has killed over a decade of revolution. So, dear “Bani Maroof”, consider the significant role you play. Know that you are under the gaze of the entire world, and your popular movement is cherished in the eyes of all Syrians.
