The Honored Number (15) Presented to Hussein Harmoush The Free Officer

• Hussein Harmoush was born in Idlib province, Jabal al-Zawiya area, in the village of “Iblin” on May 25, 1972.
• After joining the Syrian Arab Army, he obtained the red technical diploma with excellent grades, following an engineering course in the Russian Federation at the Higher Military Engineering Academy from 1990 to 1996.
• He holds a translation diploma from Arabic to Russian and vice versa and participated in scientific research at the city level in Moscow.
• He submitted a thesis titled “Calculating the Protective Thickness for Tunnel Facilities in the Syrian Arab Republic under the Impact of Conventional Weapons, Weapons of Mass Destruction, and in All Types of Soil,” which is a computer program in the Pascal programming language.
• His graduation project was titled “Design of a Tunnel Facility for the Model /C_75/ Missile Brigade.”
• He worked on the “Limestone Quarries” project in Damascus and Aleppo during the years 1996-1998.
• He worked as an execution engineer in the “Bloudan1” project in Damascus for a full year in 1998.
• He worked as an execution engineer for tunneling works and a surveying engineer in project 99d between 1999 and 2001.
• He was promoted through military ranks to the rank of Colonel in the 11th Division.
• He declared his defection from the Syrian Arab Army at the beginning of the Syrian Revolution on June 10, 2011, along with some of his comrades, in refusal to kill civilians by the security apparatus of the Syrian regime.
• He announced the establishment of the Free Officers Brigade.
• The Syrian regime attacked his village, destroyed his family’s houses as a result, arrested his brothers, and killed another along with several family members.
• After numerous pursuits, he managed to escape to Turkey, then disappeared under mysterious circumstances on the morning of Monday, August 29, 2011, through a Syrian intelligence ambush, along with 13 members of the Free Officers Brigade.
• On September 16, 2011, the regime-affiliated Dunya TV channel broadcast a videotape of Colonel Hussein Harmoush, and he has not been seen since then amid rumors claiming his martyrdom and others alleging he is still detained.

We in the Syrian Future Movement, despite our non-military, peaceful policy, see it as our duty to honor the scientific and military history of Colonel Hussein Harmoush, his standing with his people in their revolution against injustice and tyranny, and the great sacrifices he and his family endured, which have been recorded in contemporary Syrian history. Because he and his comrades sacrificed their lives in refusal to kill Syrian civilians, we present this week the Syrian Future Movement’s shield to His Excellency the Free Colonel “Hussein Harmoush,” as a symbolic Syrian shield.
