On June 29, 2022, Pope Francis appointed Father Raymond Georges as Apostolic Administrator for the Latin Vicariate in Syria, which is centered in Aleppo, following the acceptance of the resignation of Bishop George Abou Khazen after 9 years of service.

And today, Thursday, July 7, 2023, Pope Francis appoints Father Hanna Jallof as Apostolic Administrator for the Latin Church in Syria.

It is worth mentioning that Father Hanna Jallof has shown commendable patriotic stances in standing with the Syrian people and rejecting injustice, killings, bloodshed, and destruction.

The Syrian Future Movement congratulates Father Hanna Jallof, a native of the town of Al-Qunaya in the countryside of Idlib, on this religious position and considers it an honor and a responsibility at the same time.

The Syrian Future Movement sees in Father Hanna’s position a national, moral, and religious responsibility towards his congregation first and the people of his homeland second. He will be a voice for the entire population, regardless of their affiliations or religions.

The Syrian Future Movement: warns that the Syrian regime will use this religious mandate and the Christian chair as a cover and implicit recognition by the Catholic Church of the Syrian regime as part of the campaign of normalization with it!

The Syrian Future Movement deeply remembers the painful anniversary of April 22, 2013, when the Syrian bishops, Bishop Boulos Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch and Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun, and Bishop John Ibrahim of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, were kidnapped near the city of Aleppo. We also recall the abduction of Italian Jesuit priest Paolo Dall’Oglio on July 29, 2013, in the city of Raqqa, Syria.

The Syrian Future Movement considers the issue of the kidnapped Syrian Christians, our brothers and sisters, as a priority that must be addressed. We must work towards unraveling this issue by directing accusations towards the Syrian regime and its tools in order to seek truth and ensure justice.
