Syrian Future Movement’s Paper at the Midterm Conference of the Syrian Democratic Left Party
The Syrian Future Movement responded to the invitation extended by the Syrian Democratic Left Party on the occasion of holding the party’s midterm conference, which was organized under the theme: “Together to Strengthen Democratic Awareness.”
The Syrian Future Movement’s speech was delivered by Mr. Jomaa Mohammad Laheep, Director of the Research and Studies Department of the Syrian Future Movement, on behalf of Dr. Zaher Baadarani, President of the Syrian Future Movement, and at his request.
The text of the speech included the following:
Comrades and friends, ladies and gentlemen, I extend to you a Syrian national greeting, bound by justice, aspiring toward freedom, and defined by the reach of our people’s anguished cries—whether in protest squares or the depths of detention centers.
Ladies and gentlemen, first, I bring you the greetings of the President of the Syrian Future Movement, Dr. Zaher Baadarani, who has entrusted me, in my capacity as Director of the Research and Studies Department within the Scientific Office of the movement, to deliver this brief address. This is a gesture of acknowledgment from the Syrian Future Movement for the important and distinctive role of the Syrian Democratic Left Party in advancing Syrian political life throughout the years of the revolution, from its early days to the present.
We in the Syrian Future Movement commend the Syrian Democratic Left Party, which has become a home for revolutionary leftists in Syria since 2015, and even before that, it was with us in public squares and significant moments through its members and respected figures. We salute its defense of the Dignity Revolution, the 2011 Revolution, and its solidarity with its people, standing side by side. We in the Syrian Future Movement also salute your support for the democratic choice that Syria lacks and longs for—a choice for which we work alongside you until it is achieved.
Friends, I previously used the term “comrades,” which is meant to address the honorable members of the Left Party collectively. However, in recognition of the Syrian Future Movement’s belief in the Syrian Democratic Left Party’s support for our people’s revolution and its commitment to democracy as a path to liberation from the oppressive and criminal regime, we consider ourselves a single party, regardless of the differences in names and appearances. Although the Syrian Future Movement is inclined towards service-oriented parties rather than ideological ones, the essence, path, goal, and destiny remain united.
Ladies and gentlemen… or rather, comrades…
We are comrades on the journey toward establishing a strong Syrian national state—a state that rejects tyranny and upholds democracy, a state that protects its people, and in turn, is safeguarded and overseen by them. A state that believes in the individual citizen, who, in turn, believes in and remains loyal to it.
Our heartfelt wishes from the Syrian Future Movement for your complete success, continuity, and political impact. Your pioneering role in holding dozens of meetings, uniting voices, and analyzing events has had a significant impact, one that cannot be overlooked or disregarded.
Our homeland, Syria, stands by all its children, their orientations, and their backgrounds. You are part of us, and we are part of you.
