Syrian Future Movement and the Arab Space

Historically, Syria’s geography has been connected to its Arab surroundings. Additionally, the predominant identity of the Syrian people is Arab, as the integration of its tribes and clans with the Arab tribes and clans stretching from the ocean to the Gulf has given it a unique character, naturally placing it within the Arab space.

For this reason, the Syrian Future Movement (SFM) sees the “commitment to the Arab depth” as a cornerstone for any successful, acceptable, and sustainable political action.

  • SFM believes that Syria is part of the Arab map, and the Arab space is considered a natural geopolitical extension, forming a populist depth that includes all Syrian components.
  • SFM sees that any original projects threatening Arab interests are necessarily threatening to the Syrian nation’s entity, both internationally and regionally, and at the level of the nation-state.
  • SFM rejects any projects that could undermine the enduring relationship between Syria and its Arab space and refuses Syria’s geopolitical position to be a bridge of threat or an escalation passageway for the security of its surroundings and neighbors.
  • SFM believes that any non-Arab project is an addition to Arab civilization as long as it does not clash with Arab strategic interests or pose a danger negatively affecting the unified Arab fabric.
  • SFM sees the spread and extension of the Syrian people among the peoples of Arab states tribally and clan-wise as a factor of strength and Arab embrace for the Syrian people themselves, and a reason for stability and richness for Syria within the Arab space.
  • SFM believes that the security of Arab states and their peoples is part of Syria’s security, and any threat to Arab states and their peoples will not leave Syria unaffected.
  • SFM sees that “Syria,” the beating heart of Arabism, is currently suffering a severe crisis due to the confusion of its Arab space in diagnosing its condition and providing what is necessary for it to regain its health and for the Syrian body, represented by its people, to return to its known authenticity without sectarian grudge or tribal fragmentation weakening it and increasing its isolation from its surroundings.
  • SFM believes that the relationship between Syria and Arab states should be built on shared interests and mutual, equitable respect without deficiency.
  • SFM sees in a healthy shared relationship with the Arab space a consolidation of peace principles, respect for peoples in their diversity, and non-harm to their particularities, beliefs, values, or fundamentals.
  • SFM sees that the Arab space imposes joint rights and duties between Syria and Arab states, and believes that enhancing Arab confidence passes through reinforcing Arab identity and rescuing the Syrian people from the clutches of the war they are living.
  • SFM misses the pivotal role of Arab states in ending the conflict in Syria and exerting more pressure on the concerned states to end the war and transition politically to power.
  • SFM is ready to offer everything necessary for the Arab League to be a primary stronghold for the new Syria.
  • SFM believes there is no alternative or sufficiency for Syria without the Arab space, and one of SFM’s priorities is to correct the imbalance in the Syrian political balance and its intersections with current Arab policies.
  • SFM affirms that the current diplomatic policy in Syria does not take into account the interests of its people with its surroundings, nor the interest of the peoples of the region! Instead, it is based on the interests of families and the continuity of a regime of governance only! And what we aspire to in the future Syria transcends the relationship beyond any personal interests of narrow considerations, which is more conducive to stability and Arab social peace.
