The Syrian Future Movement and Holidays
Every nation has its customs, traditions, and culture deeply rooted in history, and the more diverse they are, the more they enrich the country and society, provided there is reconciliation among all components of the people. The Syrian people, diverse in their religions, sects, ethnicities, and customs, must recognize each other well to participate in these joys and holidays throughout the year, as a form of shared living (with love and dignity), not just coexistence, which requires (a thousand requests) indicating the effort involved!
The Syrian Future Movement considers religious, national, and popular holidays an important part of the Syrian cultural and national identity, seeing them as a factor of gathering and unity, not division and fragmentation.
The Syrian Future Movement rejects marginalization and exclusion, calling for the representation of the diverse Syrian components’ culture, without ignoring their holidays and celebrations.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the Syrian state should support popular diversity, considering it a cultural treasure par excellence. Therefore, we work for the state and civil society to participate in all popular holidays, whether national or religious, as a fundamental and assisting factor in enhancing national unity and spreading a culture of tolerance and mutual understanding among the different cultural groups in Syria.
The Syrian Future Movement supports the Syrian people’s display of their holidays and celebrations and the expression of their culture, rejecting suppression and restriction under any circumstances.
The Syrian Future Movement works to make all Syrian people’s holidays official, with their celebrations broadcasted on official Syrian media, contributing to Syrians’ knowledge of each other, and a national duty with no favor or grace involved.
The Syrian Future Movement distinguishes between making different holidays official and establishing official holidays for each, seeing the latter as subject to the Syrian Parliament.
