On the Spread of Revenge Killings in Syria
The media office of the Syrian Future Movement monitors pages known for their affiliation with the “Axis of Resistance,” which continue to circulate and promote old videos that do not reflect the spirit of the current phase. In light of this, we clarify the following:
The Syrian Future Movement calls on our people, who are living through this new phase in Syria, to remain vigilant against being influenced by or spreading calls for violence and revenge, or reigniting the abhorrent spirit of sectarianism. The Syrian people are still in the early stages of building a new era, seeking to rid themselves of its remnants and establish a state of law and equality that embraces all Syrians.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the dangers of revenge and retaliatory actions, which provide only an illusory and unsustainable victory, fueling the flames of blind hatred. Such actions can be exploited for future agendas that threaten the Syrian people and their very existence.
The Syrian Future Movement urges the new administration, represented by the interim transitional government, to issue a clear and strongly worded statement rejecting revenge killings and retaliatory acts that hinder the establishment of transitional justice and the success of the new phase.
The Syrian Future Movement warns against ignoring these videos and their negative impact on civil peace and the efforts of those working to restore Syria’s recovery.
The Syrian Future Movement accuses those involved in carrying out revenge killings, filming, and disseminating such acts (if recent) of being a fifth column conspiring against the interests of the Syrian people. We call for their arrest and the imposition of the harshest punishments, as such actions constitute high treason and support the approach of the former regime.
The Syrian Future Movement considers those responsible for filming and disseminating these videos (whether old or new) as enemies of the efforts made with the international community to remove Syria from terrorism lists.
The Syrian Future Movement stresses the importance of transitional justice, the need to arrest criminals without granting them impunity, and to bring them before a fair judiciary while documenting their crimes in a legally transparent manner.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that justice is the foundation of stability and that adherence to the law strengthens the society, the nation, the citizens, and the state. It also enhances the revolution’s legitimacy before everyone.
