On the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery
The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, December 2, marks the adoption of the United Nations General Assembly’s Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others, resolution 317 (15th session) dated December 2, 1949.
This day focuses on eradicating contemporary forms of slavery, such as human trafficking, sexual exploitation, the worst forms of child labor, forced marriage, and the recruitment of children for use in armed conflicts.
