Regarding the election of the 47th President of America, Donald Trump
The Syrian Future Movement followed the U.S. presidential elections and the intense competition that accompanied it, as both the Republican and Democratic parties raised numerous complex issues, domestically and internationally. The elections resulted in a widespread populist and elite-driven American sentiment that emphasized “America First,” with a significant voter turnout to elect a political leadership that reflects the people’s aspirations and concerns.
Meanwhile, our country, Syria, has been ruled for decades under the grip of a despotic family that seized the nation’s resources for its own benefit, depriving our people of the most basic political liberties, such as voting and electing their representatives in the presidency and parliament.
The Syrian Future Movement hopes that U.S. President Donald Trump will fulfill his promises to end wars in the Middle East, and globally, helping people to live with dignity and freedom by promoting a culture of peace over waves of violence.
The Syrian Future Movement also urges President Donald Trump to advance a comprehensive political solution in Syria and to ensure that America plays a historic, civilized role in helping Syrians transition from the current regime to a democratic system that embodies their hopes and aspirations.
The Syrian Future Movement sees President Donald Trump’s outreach to Arabs and Muslims as a healthy and positive step, as long as it is not merely temporary and self-serving. This outreach was reflected in the support of segments of Muslims in America for his election, which serves as a glimmer of hope for ending the conflict between America and the Arab and Islamic nations and marks an important indicator of how the United States will shape its foreign policies regarding the Middle East and neighboring regions.
