On the Assassination of Advisor Mohammad Zidan

The Syrian Future Movement condemns the assassination of Advisor Mohammad Zidan, the Judicial Inspector in Al-Rai Court, by an armed group, injuring his brother as they crossed a security checkpoint set up by the group near the town of Suran in northern Aleppo countryside.

The Syrian Future Movement views this assassination as indicative of chaos and weak security infrastructure in northern Syria.

The Syrian Future Movement holds the Syrian Interim Government, under the Syrian National Coalition, responsible for this assassination and for previous assassinations and targeted killings.

The Syrian Future Movement demands a transparent and public statement from the Syrian Interim Government announcing the prosecution of those responsible for these crimes, past and present, and taking measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for the establishment of a completely independent investigative body to investigate this assassination and hold those responsible accountable, without any cover-up from any party.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for enforcing the rule of law by building a national state whose legitimacy comes from the Syrian people, as a solution to the current chaos.

The Syrian Future Movement urges all de facto authorities outside the control of the Syrian regime to provide a viable alternative for the Syrian people, warning them against mirroring the regime’s practices of oppression and following in its footsteps.
