The Honored No. (29) Mohammad Bassam AL-Imadi

  • He was born in Damascus in 1950.
  • He obtained a Master’s degree in English literature from the University of Essex in the UK.
  • He received a diploma in international relations and diplomacy from the University of Oxford in the UK.
  • He worked as a lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature from 1979 to 1982.
  • He served in the diplomatic corps of the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1981 to 2009, holding several positions within the ministry, including Deputy Director of the Media Department and Director of the American, European, Administrative, and Cultural Affairs Departments. He also worked in several Syrian diplomatic missions in Switzerland, Russia, China, Tanzania, and Germany.
  • He chaired the diplomatic mission in Tanzania.
  • He served as “Ambassador” in Sweden from 2004 to 2008.
  • He resigned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the beginning of 2009.
  • He stood by his people’s revolution from the beginning, leaving Syria for Turkey in October 2011.
  • He founded the (National Opposition Meeting) in Istanbul on December 15, 2011.
  • He joined the Syrian National Council in December 2011, where he became a member of the Foreign Relations Office in the council.
  • He participated in founding the National Free Gathering for State Institution Workers following the defection of former Prime Minister Riyad Hijab.
  • He worked as a representative of the Syrian National Coalition in Italy.
  • The Syrian regime’s media attempted to tarnish his reputation, and the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused him, after he gave an interview to The Times newspaper, of committing violations and crimes that led to his dismissal for fraud, deception, and abuse of power to gain material benefits from public funds during his tenure as ambassador to Sweden.

At the Syrian Future Movement (SFM), in recognition of his diplomatic and revolutionary history, and for standing with his people in their revolution against injustice and tyranny, and in gratitude to the notable figures and great men of Syria, we present this week the Syrian Future Movement Shield to the Syrian diplomat Ambassador The Honored No. (29) Mohammad Bassam Imadi, a symbolic Syrian shield that embodies our vision and inclusive national approach.
