From the memory of the Syrian revolution: 2011/07/31
On this day in 2011, Syrian regime forces stormed the city of Hama with tanks amidst heavy gunfire, resulting in civilian casualties, including those who tried to confront the tanks with stones and Molotov cocktails. The regime forces conducted house searches, arrests, and set up checkpoints between neighborhoods and on main streets. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported around 100 deaths and hundreds of injuries due to the regime’s attack.
